Six stages.
One standard.

684 Detailing is a small independent shop in Southern Delaware. From a quick wash to full ceramic protection, every stage is priced on the menu, starting at $50, and confirmed with you before we start. Dents, scuffs and body damage can be fixed here too, so the car leaves finished.

Why 684

A detail is not a wash with a higher price.

A car wash takes fifteen minutes and gets the loose dirt off. A detail takes hours: every surface inside and out restored to the condition it left the factory in, then protected so it stays that way. The six stages on the menu run from an hour's Express Clean to two days of correction and coating, and the same person who priced the job is the person doing it.

That is why the calendar is small, why prices are confirmed before we start, and why open dates go to the waiting list rather than to whoever calls first.

Priced before we start

Starting prices on the menu, vehicle size added, condition agreed from photos or a quick look. Once agreed, the number does not go up.

Measured before polished

Paint thickness is read on every panel before a polisher touches it, so nothing is taken that cannot be spared.

Inspected under the lights

Every panel is checked under high-CRI inspection lighting before, during and after, and you see it under the same light.

How it works

Request, price, the work, handover.

No walk-ins. Every car is planned before it is touched, and every car ends with a walk-around under the lights before you get the keys.

STEP 01

Request

Tell us the vehicle, which stage you are after and a couple of photos. You hear back within one business day.

STEP 02

Price & date

The stage and a firm price are agreed from photos or a quick look, and a 25% deposit holds the date.

STEP 03

The work

An hour for an Express Clean, up to two days for correction and coating. A progress photo or two, and a call if anything unexpected turns up.

STEP 04

Handover & care

Walk-around under the lights, a written care guide, and maintenance options so the result lasts.

Tell us the vehicle, the service you want and how quickly you can make a date work. It takes a minute and costs nothing.

Also offered · Auto body

Found a dent while we were polishing? It gets fixed here.

A detailer who finds a scratch through the clear coat normally has to send you somewhere else. 684 Detailing also does auto body work: dents, bumper scuffs, scratches and chips, paint and collision repair, quoted in writing after inspection. The repaired panels are polished and the car goes out detailed, so a fixed fender is never handed back next to a swirled door.

Questions

Before you book.

How far out are you booking?

It depends on the season and the stage; ask and you will get a straight answer. The waiting list is the fastest route in: open days are offered there with 24 hours' notice before anyone else hears about them.

Are the prices on the menu the final price?

They are starting prices for a car. SUVs and small trucks add $25 to $50, full-size trucks, vans and three-row SUVs add $50 to $100, and an excessively dirty vehicle is quoted. Condition can move the number, and that is agreed with you before we start. Once a price is confirmed it does not go up.

Do you come to me, or do I come to you?

You come to us for now. Every stage is done at the shop, where there is covered space, proper lighting and water for all of it. Mobile detailing is not available yet; if that changes, this page will say so.

What is the difference between a detail and a wash?

Time, method and result. A wash takes minutes and moves loose dirt. A detail takes the day: decontamination, machine polishing where the paint needs it, steam and extraction inside, and real protection on top. There is a plain-English guide if you want the long version.

Should I get a ceramic coating?

If you keep the car more than a year or two and want it to stay easy to wash, yes. Stage 6, Ultimate Protection, corrects the paint where it needs it before the coating goes on, so the gloss is locked in rather than sealed over, then cures it properly and sends you home with a care guide. It is priced by the car's condition, size and paint type, and you know the number before we start.

Can you fix a scratch or a dent during a detail?

If the scratch is in the clear coat, paint correction removes it. If it is through to the primer or metal, or it is a dent, that is body work, and it is done here too. Either way it is one conversation and one quote; you are not sent somewhere else.
